time for me to tell you about another song i am obsessed with

 hola a tod@s

let me tell you the current song i am obsessed with. 'llorando se fue' by bolivian group los kjarkas. last time it was the tuvan internationale. this time it's this:

the title 'llorando se fue' means 'crying, she left'. the vocal delivery touches my heart directly. it has lyrics in spanish and then a verse in japanese for some reason, which is very like . the pan-world feeling you used to get in the 80s/90s. recently i have been feeling nostalgic for this era

(also that music video lmao) wait lol the version in the music video doesn't have japanese. i have been mostly listening to the version with japanese in it. i really thought the japanese in it predated the japanese member of the band (who has a really interesting story btw - his parents were bolivian music superfans and he grew up playing traditional bolivian instruments in japan. he basically decided to move to bolivia after seeing los kjarkas in tokyo and becoming obsessed. years later in 2001 when they were auditioning for charango players (small traditional andean guitar) he auditioned, and he stood out because he knew every single one of the band's songs, of which there were at least 200 by that point. i think this means there's a non-zero chance i could end up in linkin park is what i'm saying.
it's weirdly hard to research this information even knowing spanish. i haven't been able to verify if the version with japanese predates him joining the band but it's by far the best version of the song. i'm pretty sure it does though, i think they recorded the spanish-japanese ver in 1990.

also i really love this live version

anyway if think it sounds familiar it's because you've heard the exact melody progression in jennifer lopez' "on the floor" (2011), as well as a bunch of other songs. the brazilian group kaoma stole the melody (and got sued over it) and it has become apparently a very common melody in latin america and also at least one song from japan. i still think the original has a quality to it that the other versions don't. it's like, hauntingly beautiful in a way i guess.

ok thank you that's kind of everything i have to say at the moment. good bye for now <3
