the method she used was more like:

memorise these
sin ax '= a cos ax
cos ax '= -a sin ax
tan ax '= a tan^2 ax
(where '= means differentiation)

wtf, so unnecesarily complicated

so to differentiate something like sin(x + 3x^2)
would require the chain rule
