Mirror's Edge Review

Like i said before...it's reasonably late at night and i'm bored so....here's a review for you to read which is from my own blog

Let me explain why this is a decent game and not a great game

So we're back in the future in which you're a runner and you run around rooftops passing messenger bags which was not explained what it carries and you're working for someone who is not clearly explained either.

When DICE announced Mirror's Edge i'm sure lots of fans were super excited for the release of the game and as such i was too. The first person free running idea is a great one if done correctly. What Mirror's Edge does however is (unintentionally i think) break up the free running which is a complete let down when you're running away from the police and then you grind to a halt...sit down for a cup of tea and figure out where to go...

Point being.....if you're going to make it a free running game which concentrates on the flow of gameplay, don't make the way to the exit a thought longer to figure out!

That being said Mirror's Edge works perfectly if you know the way around each level. Sometimes moves can be executed flawlessly and it really does give you a real sense of speed and elegance. Since this is the case it's usually a good idea to replay a couple levels just to experience the fun.

Graphically it's a good game to look at, but the over used HDR is such an incredible pain sometimes parts of the level are washed out and bland to look at. Same thing goes for in the dark. At times i was unable to see where i was and this is quite annoying when you're in an elevator shaft and falling will cause death.

I just want to also comment on the police in this game. Why is the police so very very insistent on catching runners and send in dozens and dozens of platoons to hunt down one girl? Do they have nothing else to do in huge city where other disturbances are bound to exist. Maybe their second most prioritized job is to run janitorial services a little too dictatorially and insist on a shiny and pristine city. I don't know maybe i'm knit picking here...

Don't get me wrong this isn't a bad game, it's a good game overall. however just know that when you play this game you'll have a few persistent frustrations with it.

Hmmm... I liked it at first, but there was just something repelling in it to me. The whole "world without rights is evil" story and the glaringness of the white-dominated levels, and the crappy combat...

Got sick of it very quickly.
