so anyway I expanded upon the stats we got in the third comment on this post but here is a graph showing our entire pageview history, notice the massive spike, this is may 2011
for greater detail click but even at this size it's pretty obvious that there's a huge huge huge spike, like 4 times above the average

a lot of those views could be me just refreshing the page / using Chrome Incognito, but I don't think that's 1017 worth of page views...

lets expand the stats a bit further, hui's big dragon of the day post of 15 may 2011 has a total of 3,016 pageviews (all time). [1,926 of them were this month period.] this is not divided into countries.
given that the us has 6,772 pagevies on this blog [2,050 this month period] and that komodo dragon is a popular search term in the us i would say its very likely a large amount of those pageviews from the us were on that one post.
also, looking at the stats again, on the overview page, we actually have 41,380 pageviews all time, meaning that more than half of our pageviews are from outside australia, and about 11,000 pageviews are from outside aus and the us, which falls to about 9,000 if you exclude both canada and the uk.
