I don't understand japanese ads like this.. do they think that portraying people feeling uncomfortable makes consumers want to buy their products??

this is not a japanese ad maxim! Its a television program. This is just one episode of the twenty that they have. it is called mameshiba-one-trivia-a-day. So everyday you get a new trivia like this one was that Hippo's sweat it pink.
