About that Dad birthday thing...

Anyway, previous post got me thinking and I have realised that I don't recall any moment in which I said "I love you" to my Dad or Mum.

I feel the love but have never said it to them. Anyone just feel awkward saying it to your parents cause I don't feel the same awkwardness when it's my close friends.

I wouldn't say it by myself, but whenever I call my parents they always say "I love you max" whenever they're about to hang up, so I'll say sort of awkwardly "I love you too." It sucks when you're in a public space, but I'll still say it

I used to say it all the time, there's nothing wrong with loving your parents

but then something really big happened and i only really want to say it to my dad...

It took me a while to get used to saying it to my dad when we'd end a phone conversation, particularly when we first moved back to australia, like it took me like 2/3 years. but now it's just normal cause he's my dad and i miss him sometimes and it's just a nice gesture to show you care.
With mum it's different, not really like that tho.
