Yeh so my plans changed

We got to the airport in Sydney to board our 6 am Emirates flight to Dubai and then to catch another one to Munich.

But apparently, they overbooked the flight and both my sister and I were denied boarding as we were 2 of 8 people that didn't do online check-in. So they changed our flight, upgraded our seats, gave us a free meal and free return flights to Munich.

We checked in, got free food and board our plane at 8:15 am, we flew the 9 hours and 50 minutes on Japanese Airlines, Premium Economy to Tokyo, and I am now sitting in the American Airlines Admiral Club for the next 3 hours. We are flying the next 10 hours 50 minutes on an Emirates flight in Business class to Dubai, then we get to wait another 4 and a half hours in the Dubai Business Lounge and then fly the final 6 and a half hours to Munich, also in Business. It's nice although we will be flying a total of 27 hours, plus the 10 and a half in airports, we essentially get an extra 12 hours before we get to Europe.

But I slept for 6 hours in the first flight and will sleep at least half the next one; so should be good.

EDIT: Sitting in the Dubai Business Lounge now, it is pretty chill with like free food and wifi again. They have couches and stuff too, it's basically like the entire upper level of the airport. It's getting to be close to 4:30am here in Dubai and there are there are a lot of people in the lounge. I was amused cause a guy walked through and gave us a "why are children here?" look but he had a trophy wife that looked incredibly astounded by the place. Will post again when we get the Munich I guess, although all I am probably going tio want to do is shower and sleep.

Did you get upgraded to business class? And what's 'premium economy'?

Yeh upgraded to business and premium economy is like halfway between business and normal economy.
